The #1 Rule for Facebook posts and Twitter Tweets – Don’t Post Anything You Wouldn’t Want Your Mother or A Judge to See
As Social Media such as Facebook and Twitter have become more ingrained in every day life, I have struggled with how to advise my clients. On one hand, I can take the Nancy Reagan approach and tell them just say no. On the other hand, I can just say “have at it.”
Well I finally came to the conclusion that no matter what I say, the client is going to do whatever they feel like anyway, so I came up with a simple “Social Media Rule to Live By”.
“Don’t post or tweet anything that you wouldn’t want your Mother or a Judge to know!”
As we can see, if dear Colleen (click below) had followed this advice, she probably wouldn’t be facing 3 months in jail.
